Flat Black clutch and grab their way to freak victory over the Stokes First we find out that Rick Berry suffered a dislocated shoulder last game (Here's to a speedy recovery Rick!!). Then the Zamboni breaks down leaving a patch of ice in the corner as rough as a cheese grater. Then the Stokes star goaltender Pete Timmins doesn't arrive until halfway thru the 2nd period by which time the baffled Stokes are down by 2 (Call it sour grapes but Pete would have had those two goals let in by the gentlemanly but rather rotund call-up Davey). Then Fergutron gets tossed because he slams his stick in frustration after being hauled down like a fullback on the one yard line, Moose takes one for the team but is ignored by the officials and Joey B. gets a facewash just to send everybody home with a nice image. We were told handlebar-mustachioed-convenor ref doesn't like Flat Black after playing on their team last season - maybe he's over compensating or perhaps he likes us even less. Anyway let's put this freaky one behind us and make sure we ream Capsule next game. So now the Stokes are back in 7th place, 1 point out of 6th, 4 pts behind the frigging Morningstars in 5th. |

Mighty Stokes woulda creamed Capsule (even without J.J.) The Black Stokes cruised to a 4-2 victory over the lowly Capsule Music this past Sunday with pretty goals by Joey B. and Croc. (Oh yeah and the kid J.J. got two). But we would have had our way with Capsule without him. Really. The Stokes are now in 6th place, 2 points out of 5th, 4 pts behind the frigging Morningstars in 3rd. |

Wow, How'd We Do That? The mighty Stokes humiliated the first place Gourds this past weekend 8 to 1. That's right 8 to 1. Part-time Stokes Darryl Northcott (Joey B's hero and just about everybody's favourite player) had a hat trick, Teen Wolf and Croc each had two goals and Rick Berry, just back from his shoulder injury, netted one. Was it the great individual play of the aformentioned gents? Is that why we rose to heights unseen before? Was fill-in goalie Tony the Tiger Tretiak so great that we played better than we ever have with Timmer in the nets? Were we seeing the puck better, skating harder and supporting each other more as a result of our grueling roadtrip to Montreal? Was it, once again, the wondrous beneficence of J.J.? Were the Gourds short a ringer or two? The Stokes are now in 4th place, 4 points out of 3rd, with an identical record to the frigging Morningstars but ahead by virtue of more goals for. |
